UNDER OATH THE NEW KING OF BURRUMBEET

It was a welcome return into the winner’s circle for UNDER OATH on Saturday after Melissa Julius and the seven-year-old country cup stalwart combined to take out the Petrogas Burrumbeet Cup.

Coming off a solid run over 1750m at Geelong on the 21st of December, Where he was caught three-wide most of the trip and presented well on the turn, before fading late in the run.

He benefited immensely from that run and the stable was extremely happy and confident with him coming into the cup. Jumping just worse than midfield and settling in behind them from the outset, Under Oath allowed them to go fast early upfront before presenting around about the 600m mark and putting them all to the sword, winning comfortably for Julius by 6 lengths coasting across the line.

“He was just terrific today,” said Julius.

“The minute I got on him and bowled him around the start, he was switched on, we wanted to bang him out of the stalls and get up there, which he allowed me to do. When I said go around the 400 he really let down and put pain to them “, said Julius

Stable is happy to get another country cup on the board with one of the stable favourites.

“The plan was to be forward in the run, but Mel had to jag back to the inside and we ended up last the fence. They were running along the first 600m and he looked the winner when the favourite Court Deep came off the bridle early, he was strong through the line and stayed on a good 1800m” said Henry

UNDER OATH looks to continue his domination of country cups deep into this preparation with the Great Western or Hanging Rock the next that may catch the stables eye. The stable is extremely happy with the old boy and are extremely excited to challenge for some more country cups in the future
