Telekinesis breaks his maiden in style at Ballarat

Telekinesis claimed the first victory of his career today at Ballarat with an ultra-impressive win in the Eureka Concrete 3yo Maiden Plate.

Perfectly ridden by Georgina Cartwright who let him stride freely from his wide barrier despite fighting her in the early stages, Telekinesis showed he enjoys the All Weather Track when he rounded the turn and bolted away from the field.

Telekinesis had been freshened-up since running fourth in what has turned out to be a hot form race behind Our Musketeer and A Lone Hero on a heavy track at Pakenham. His recent jump-out win on the synthetic surface only last week showed he was always going to be a serious threat in today’s race, which is now his home track given HDR’s new Ballarat stables.

“Georgie did the right thing and let him roll forward when he was a bit aggressive early and while he didn’t have any cover, he always had good momentum and the experience he has on the track really helped him,” said Henry to Racing.Com post-race.

“He has always been a bit slow mentally, he probably disappointed us in his first few starts, but he has always shown that he will be better with time.”

“We needed to see some sort of encouragement to see if he was worth preserving with and I think today has given us a good indication that he certainly handles the track, if nothing else, and there will certainly be a [Benchmark] 58 or 64 on that track in the short term,” Henry told Racing.Com’s Terry Bailey.

“I wouldn’t mind finding a three-year-old race on a Wednesday in town before the end of the season and if he doesn’t go any good there, he can go back to the synthetic”.

Georgina Cartwright, upon dismounting, told Racing.Com’s Brad Bishop that Telekinesis has always had his fair share of ability that would enable him to win races and that today everything just seem to click into place for him. Georgie also believed the fact that Telekinesis is now trained on the track helped him today and that he had taken a particular liking to the synthetic.
