Dwyer said if he didn’t take her there his other option was to run her in a $200,000 1400m race at Flemington on the same date.
“ I’d rather run her in a $1 million race than a $200,000 race as long as it’s not a bog. She could earn just as much by running a place in Sydney,” Dwyer said.
“It wouldn’t knock her round too much by going up there.”
Dwyer said the $500,000 One Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 8 was still her main mission.
Dwyer said his other option was to wait a month with Leotie and run her in the Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield on September 24.
Her jockey Chris Parnham said Leotie was a smart filly who still had a lot to learn.
David Hayes also has big spring plans for his galloper He’s Our Rokkii, who won the Catanach’s Jewellers Handicap (1400m).
Leotie ($2.30fav) defeated Sebrikka ($3.40) by a length-and-a-quarter with Perfectly Safe ($4.40) a short head away third.
Hayes said He’s Our Rokkii had lots of improvement to come but needed to win a race such as this to get his ratings up.
Hayes is setting He’s Our Rokkii for the feature mile races the Toorak Handicap and the Emirates Stakes.
He said even a start in the Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington was in consideration.
He’s Our Rokkii ($7) defeated Prince Of Brooklyn ($2.45) by a long neck with Jungle Edge ($4.60) a length-and-a-quarter away third.
