A lovely ‘value’ purchase from Day 2 of the Tatt’s Horses in Training Sale is PALACE GREEN, a staying son of Sea The Moon. His only win came on the synthetic at Kempton Park, however his two subsequent runs to that on top of the ground rated extremely well, after which he appears to have trained off/not handled wet tracks. If you take his first three runs post-gelding in isolation – an impressive Maiden win and two unlucky runs at York and Royal Ascot he’s a very expensive/high profile horse and far above our budget. Given he’s had a couple of failures since however, he became buyable and more importantly comes to Australia with a much lower rating and ability to pick up good prizemoney whilst going through his grades.
Palace Green is a quality ‘type’ of animal – good strength, good length and scope, and seemingly a bombproof temperament. He carries good ratings figures, tactical versatility and a racing style and liking of firm ground that should be ideally suited to Australia.
Landed in Australia inclusive of GST, agent’s commission, air freight, insurance and vet Palace Green is AUD $329,855.
