It was a debut appearance in the winner’s circle for KASAMI after Dominic Tourneur and the four-year-old daughter of Shooting to win combined to take out the TAB Maiden Plate at start number five for the stable.
Coming off an impressive jumpout win at Geelong on the 15th of December, finishing two lengths the better of a very smart Miletus from the Jamie Edwards stable.
Dual accepted at both Warrnambool and Murray Bridge, The stable decided to cross the border, and It paid dividends. Jumping well and settling in behind the leaders from the outset, Kasami was able to find another gear in the straight to hold off fast-finishing closers to win convincingly.
“She was tough and gritty to the line, very determined win,” said Tourneur.
“The speed was towards the outside, so I was happy enough to let them go, and once we popped off of the fence she really let down”, said Tourneur
Stable is happy to get her maiden out of the way as she had come very close last preparation.
“I thought she would have lead today, but she ended up in a good spot from the gates. Once the leaders popped off, she was presented with a beautiful run, and she was good enough to take it and hit the front; she had them beat crossing the line and was better than it looked as Dom was fairly easy on her in the last 50” said Henry
She had a fair gap in between runs, but she will improve dramatically from this run as she moves through this preparation.
KASAMI looks like a genuine mare that can go on with it now. With a city class win under the belt, she looks like she could get up to fillies and mares 70 grade soon or even a good Valley night race. Stable is wrapped with the performance and excited to see where she takes us.
