Caulfield Heath
Race 2 – Friday At Five
Jockey – Alysha Warren
1800m – Barrer 1
In-form mare Friday At Five looks to go one better than a narrow defeat last start when she heads to Caulfield’s inner track this afternoon. The daughter of Zoustar fought gamely when out-bobbed in a tight finish in the Dunkeld Cup three weeks ago, and stays at the 1800-metre trip for today’s contest in town. Apprentice hoop Alysha Warren claims down to 55.5kg and can use the inside draw to her advantage, able to sit up on speed in a small field and control the race from the outset.
Just four rivals to assess here, starting with Eishaa, who will have the drop on the leaders if they become vulnerable in the home straight. She beat home subsequent city winner Almonti two back, before a sound effort at Moonee Valley when up in trip last start. Sure to be thereabouts. The other hope is Lake Vostock, who led and fought on well at this track over a mile last week. On the quick back-up and rises in trip, both positive moves. Was good at Flemington the start prior and can be in this for a long way. Kind Gesture has minor claims on her effort at Moonee Valley two back.
Friday At Five has plenty in her favour for today’s race, able to use the inside alley to hold the front and control the tempo throughout. She’s racing in great fashion and only needs to hold her form to be right in the finish again today. Strong claims.
Currently, Friday At Five is a $3.80 chance in the market.
