Race 6 – Electric Impulse
Jockey – Ben Allen
1615m – Barrier 4
Consistent mare Electric Impulse is back in grade when she heads to Sale this afternoon. The daughter of Cable Bay has been rock solid at her past two starts, getting too far back at Sandown before a clear third at The Valley in a leader-dominated affair a month ago. Jockey Ben Allen takes the ride from a soft draw and can find cover one or two pairs back from the outset.
Speed is drawn towards the outside with Delightful Journey and A Dublin Lad to roll forward in the run to the first bend, while Powerbound can enjoy the run of the race from gate three. This galloper proved far too good in lesser grade last start, brushing aside his rivals to score impressively at Geelong. Both career wins have come on dry ground and no surprise to see him go close again here. Hardest to beat. Freight Train is another last start winner who rises in grade today. Both wins have come first-up from a spell but may be ready to go on with it here. Couldn’t dive in at the price. Each way chances to Royal Fox, who needs to convert Synthetic form to grass, and Delightful Journey, who will get every chance from the front.
Electric Impulse will be hoping for the predicted rain to hit early enough in the day to take the sting out of the track, currently rated a Good 4. She has the strongest formlines heading into this race and draws to get every chance from the gates. With even luck, she gets a deserved win today.
Currently, Electric Impulse is a $4.20 chance in the market.
