Henry Dwyer Racing – Wednesday Preview

Sandown (L)

Race 4 – Pittsburgh Pirate

Jockey – Celine Gaudray

2400m – Barrier 7

Promising stayer Pittsburgh Pirate gets to 2400-metres fourth-up from a spell at Sandown this afternoon. The five-year-old son of Pierro was okay at 2100-metres here a fortnight ago, overracing throughout but boxing on soundly when beaten four lengths in similar company. Gun apprentice Celine Gaudray hops back on today, able to take a sit behind the speed and have something left to offer in the home straight.

Speed comes from the inside with Okesutora to punch through from gate two and look to hold the lead, while expect Preferential and Sunset Missile to roll across from out wider on the course. Plenty of money for Okesutora in this, coming off a strong maiden win at Ballarat two weeks ago. Always difficult jumping straight to 64-grade, but does have plenty of upside. Will get every chance from near the speed and must be considered one of the main chances. Couldn’t jump in at the price though. Highland Blaze was shuffled back to last and lost all momentum on the turn at Caulfield last start, picking up and running home fairly on that occasion. Back in grade today and should have no traffic issues from the outside barrier. Strong each way claims. So too Preferential who is another dropping in class for today’s race. She’ll enjoy getting back on top of the ground today and this trip looks to suit. Concede a minor hope to Enzedder from the back.

Pittsburgh Pirate has been building nicely this preparation and is ready to put his hand up at his fourth run this time in. He should get a lovely run throughout and gets in well after the apprentice claim. Must be considered a strong each way chance.

Currently, Pittsburgh Pirate is a $9 chance in the market.
