Sandown
Race 4 – Wuddzz
Jockey – Jaylah Kennedy
2400m – Barrier 4
Six-year-old galloper Wuddzz will appreciate some give in the ground when he stays at 2400-metres at Sandown this afternoon. The gelded son of Complacent has been sound in two recent runs on a dry surface, his effort behind Dashing Duchess two starts back at Swan Hill reading well after the weekend’s results. In-form apprentice Jaylah Kennedy rides from gate four and can find cover one or two pairs back throughout, enjoying a soft run before presenting in the home straight.
Speed is okay with Tobi Saru and Brilliant Venture able to punch through from the inside, while Chevalier Du Fau can roll forward from the middle of the line. Dschingis Prestige comes back from a poor effort in stronger company at Rosehill, but a pair of prior efforts at Caulfield were very good for this. If he can rediscover that form, he’s the one to beat. A Votre Sant has had the better of a few rivals in recent meetings, albeit without finding the winner’s stall. Expect her usual honest effort. King’s Crossing won well at Swan Hill two starts back, while Brilliant Venture is capable of better than his last run. Both with each way claims.
Wuddzz gets in well after Kennedy’s claim and sets up for a lovely run in transit. He’ll relish getting his toe in the ground today and will get his chance to find the right part of the track to chase the leaders in the run home. Strong each way claims.
Currently, Wuddzz is a $4.80 chance in the market.
Sandown
Race 6 – Electric Impulse
Jockey – John Allen
1500m – Barrier 3
Cable Bay mare Electric Impulse is back in grade and out in trip for today’s race at Sandown. The four-year-old galloper has been sound in all runs this preparation – barring a forgive effort on ‘that’ Warrnambool deck – and will appreciate the give in the ground for today’s contest. Jockey John Allen has drawn well in gate three and can find cover throughout, able to run on and chase the leaders in the home straight.
Speed is drawn outside Electric Impulse, with Vasmme, Rackemann and Blazerro likely to roll forward in the early stages, while Wagga Wagga can hold its position on the inside. Rackemann is racing in good heart this preparation, never out of the placings in five starts and shooting at a hattrick of wins today. Rises in grade for this but cannot knock winning form. Fretta resumes today, boasting an unbeaten fresh record from two previous attempts. Jumpouts have been good and expecting a forward showing today. Each way chances to Angry Skies, who’s down in class today, and Magarten, who won well in lesser grade last start.
Electric Impulse has the class to take care of this field, and the sting out of the ground is in her favour this afternoon. She’s been around the mark in stronger company of late and any improvement on those runs sees her very hard to beat today. Strong claims.
Currently, Electric Impulse is a $6.50 chance in the market.
