Warrnambool
Race 2 – Pressure Cooker
Jockey – Mitch Aitken
1700m – Barrier 4
Four-year-old galloper Pressure Cooker is second-up and fitter when he gets out to 1700-metres at Warrnambool this afternoon. The gelded son of Adelaide was sound when fresh at Geelong three weeks ago, resuming there off a lengthy spell and finding the line nicely at 1300-metres. Jockey Mitch Aitken draws well in gate four and can look to settle midfield with cover before working through the field in the closing stages.
That’swhatshesaid and Chimed will look to roll across from out wide in the early parts and take up forward positions, while Whistle Down and Black Peppermint can receive soft trails from ideal draws here. Black Peppermint ran on well to be beaten half-a-length behind an all-the-way leader at Kyneton on debut, with a further three-and-a-half lengths back to the third-placed runner. Drawn for an ideal run here and up in trip looks to suit. One of the main chances. That’swhatshesaid lost the photo finish at Pakenham last start and is fit for four runs this preparation. Rarely far away, and with a more positive ride, must be considered a leading chance today. Whistle Down raced on-speed and was only run down late first-up at Terang a fortnight ago. She’ll be in this for a long way. Engeline next best, but needs a change in track pattern to what we witnessed yesterday.
Pressure Cooker is quickly to this distance today following an encouraging first-up effort, and should receive a nice cart into the race on the back of improving runners. It was hard to corner wide and run on yesterday, and a path through rather than around the field would be ideal at this early stage of the day. Each way chance with even luck.
Currently, Pressure Cooker is a $19 chance in the market.

Race 9 – Alors Tu Crois
Jockey – Jaylah Kennedy
1700m – Barrier 14
Five-year-old mare Alors Tu Crois is third-up and fitter when she heads to Warrnambool this afternoon. The daughter of So You Think has been just okay at two spaced runs this preparation, and will look to bounce back in similar company today. Jockey Jaylah Kennedy has drawn wide in gate fourteen and will look to roll across in the early stages, lobbing outside or just behind the speed heading into the back straight.
Bors and Unfair Dismissal will punch forward from the middle and give Alors Tu Crois a cart into the race from the outset, while Gimme Gold and Mark Of The Man can use their low draws to hold prominent positions early on. Tough race. Mark Of The Man draws to find a forward spot in the run, a tactic that proved to be advantageous throughout yesterday’s card. Just missed in a similar race last time out and looks a top chance to go one better. Must be considered. Kimmorley was doing his best work late when fresh at Geelong and did win second-up last preparation. Should get a lovely sit in behind the speed and can be right there turning for home. Don’t dismiss. Each way chances to A Votre Sante and Gimme Gold. Can make a case for others.
Alors Tu Crois needs to improve on what she’s shown this campaign and should get every chance to do so today. If she can find her way across without spending too many tickets early, she should find a kick in the straight and be right there in the final furlong. Strong each way claims on her best form.
Currently, Alors Tu Crois is a $16 chance in the market.
Warrnambool
Race 10 – Electric Impulse
Jockey – John Allen
1400m – Barrier 6
Talented mare Electric Impulse is second-up and fitter on day two of the Warrnambool Carnival this afternoon. The daughter of Cable Bay was sound from the front when resuming at Bendigo three weeks ago, and comes here boasting an unbeaten record when second-up from a spell (3:3-0-0). Jockey John Allen leaves from a middle gate and can find a position two or three pairs back with cover heading into the home bend.
Global Gift and Pythagoras can punch forward from the centre and look for forward positions in the run, while Adandiman and Cape Doctor will roll across and apply some pressure early on. Hell Hound draws to get a lovely trail in behind the speed and could be ready to improve third-up from a break today. She had post-race excuses last time out when not disgraced in a good form race. Each way claims. Jabbawockeez and The Devil In Her will both be back in the field and hoping the on-speed bias has mellowed by this stage of the day. If you can make ground, this pair come right into calculations. Cape Doctor next best if give a positive ride.
Electric Impulse draws for a lovely run and should corner in front of a few of her main rivals here. She has a touch of class and on even terms looks the one to beat in this.
Currently, Electric Impulse is a $5 chance in the market.
