Henry Dwyer Racing – Wednesday Preview

Sandown

Race 2 – Macocha

Jockey – Mitch Aitken

1200m – Barrier 2

Resuming two-year-old Macocha kicks off her campaign at Sandown this afternoon. The daughter of Street Boss has jumped out just once in preparation for today, leaving plenty of room for improvement on the back of today’s race. Jockey Mitch Aitken leaves from barrier two and can sit outside or tucked in behind the speed from the outset.

Debutant Khadime has shown speed in recent jumpouts and will likely punch forward from the inside alley, while Blue Allure can roll across and sit handy from gate six. Khadime was impressive winning her last jumpout by a space, doing her best work at the back end of the 1000-metre hitout. She draws for the right run if she steps cleanly and can be in this for a long way. Blue Allure was solid when runner-up behind Stakes-placed Ameena two starts back before a plain effort at Flemington last time out. Back around a bend could spur improvement, no surprise to see her bounce back. Concede chances to Atella Miss and Gellhorn, who both closed nicely in their respective jumpouts.

Macocha has the benefit of race experience over most of her rivals today and is the only winner in the field. She’ll be better for the run today with bigger targets in mind second-up, but expecting a nice performance first-up.

Currently, Macocha is a $10 chance in the market.
