Henry Dwyer Racing – Wednesday Preview

Sandown

Race 8 – Wuddzz

Jockey – Rose Hammond

2100m – Barrier 13

Six-year-old stayer Wuddzz is second-up and out in trip at Sandown this evening. The gelded son of Complacent was always rearward in a leader-dominated affair when fresh at 1800-metres, and is better suited over further today. Apprentice hoop Rose Hammond claims down to 60.5kg and will be forced to find cover in the second half of the field from a wide barrier.

Speed comes from the centre of the line with Vivideel and Bogues to look for the top early, while Jayrod Too can punch through and hold his spot from a low draw. A few with claims in this. Gracias Amigo has his first look at this distance, having been sound at 1800-metres last time out. He was always wide on that occasion, sustaining a long run that peaked in the last 100-metres. He should get an easier run here and can settle closer off a steadier tempo. Strong each way claims, forgotten in the market. So Sleek comes through the same race, stalking the leader/winner all the way and boxing on soundly for third. He draws for a soft run and will get every chance camped behind the leaders. Top chance. Divus Romulus was an easy maiden winner first-up, rising sharply in trip and grade for this. Has been well-supported and must be considered a chance. Concede each way hopes to Vivideel, who gets every chance up on speed, and Amphactor, who has been sound at both runs this time in.

Wuddzz will improve again off today’s run, with an eye to 2400-metres next time out. He’ll get his chance to wind up and pass a few in the run home, look for him to be hitting the line.

Currently, Wuddzz is a $31 chance in the market.
