Warrnambool
Race 8 – Mortar
Jockey – Jack Hill
1300m – Barrier 9
Four-year-old gelding Mortar stays at 1300-metres for his second-up assignment at Warrnambool this afternoon. The promising son of Tarzino was good at Geelong when he resumed from a spell, hitting the line nicely from back in the field. He will again find today’s trip short of his best but will take benefit from the run as Dwyer looks to step his runner out to a mile next start. Jack Hill will ride quietly from an outside gate and be running through the line late, looking to give a positive indication for a rise in distance next time out. This is an open affair with many hopes, but Sugar And Sweet looks close to a win after a terrific effort at The Valley last start.
Currently, Mortar is a $26 chance in the market.
Race 8 – Our Destrier
Jockey – Dakotah Keane
1300m – Barrier 1
The second of the Dwyer runners in this event is Our Destrier, who has his second start for the stable here. The son of Zoustar was sound at Terang three weeks ago and will present fitter for racing, though likely to need an extra furlong to be at his best. Apprentice jockey Dakotah Keane claims 4kg from the mammoth 65kg allocation and will want to settle midfield, looking for runs late and hitting the line with purpose. This six-year-old will improve next start from whatever the outcome may be today.
Currently, Our Destrier is a $41 chance in the market.
Race 8 – Brungle Raider
Jockey – Neil Farley
1300m – Barrier 2
The third runner of Dwyer’s trio here is the Rebel Raider gelding, Brungle Raider. The five-year-old had strung back-to-back wins together before failing to beat a runner home in town last start and will be keen to show a form reversal this afternoon. Like the stable’s other runners, this galloper will find today’s assignment too short but will gain fitness from the run and Dwyer will look for him to be strong to amd past the post. Brungle Raider will progress to a mile next time out in a fortnight.
Currently, Brungle Raider is a $17 chance in the market.
