The HDR stable has one runner today in FRIDAY AT FIVE at Sandown.
Sandown – Soft (7)
The track has come up a Soft 7 and there are showers continuing to move through the city so it could well get a downgrade at some point through the afternoon. Racing is on the inner Lakeside track at Sandown where it is rarely a disadvantage to be too far away from the speed. (Form Analyst Matt Welsh)
Race 6 (2:45 pm) Thoroughbred Club Handicap 1600m
No.6 FRIDAY AT FIVE – Josh Richards (Barrier 4)
FRIDAY AT FIVE (4) heads to Sandown on Wednesday where she will tackle a 1600m BM70 (Race 6, 2.45 pm). She has drawn gate four and Josh Richards will ride.
FRIDAY AT FIVE was very good up on speed in a fast run race at Pakenham two starts back and she quickly bounced out of that brutally run race to produce a strong, on-speed win at Warrnambool last start. It was no doubt some edge to be on speed there at the ‘Bool but by the same token they went out hard and those around her on speed dropped out – it was a solid win. This is a step up in grade, no doubt, but this filly makes her own luck on speed and she has an ability to get those in behind chasing as she sustains strong splits, which is a great asset to have. The drop back in trip is no issue and clearly, she handles rain-affected going. All in all, there’s a fair bit to like. (Form Analyst Matt Welsh)
FRIDAY AT FIVE comes out again this preparation at Sandown today over the 1600m back from 1700m last start. She spent the last few weeks at the beach post that run at Warrnambool and she has come back fresh and well. The step back to 1600m and the added bonus of Josh Richards claims she is low in the weights and should be better off for it. She can certainly run in the first half of the field if she brings the ability we know she has. (Stable)
