The HDR stable has one runner today in SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH at Bendigo.
Bendigo – Heavy (10)
The track has come up a Heavy 10 after the area received plenty of rainfall on Monday and Tuesday. With that rating, you’d expect them to use plenty of the track in the home straight and fitness will come to the fore. (Form Analyst Matt Welsh)
Race 4 (2:45 pm) Bendigo MG 4YO+ Maiden Plate 1100m
No.12 SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH – Mitch Aitken (Barrier 6)
SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH (6) heads to Bendigo today where she will contest an 1100m Maiden (Race 4, 2.45pm). She has drawn gate four and Mitch Aitken will ride.
SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH is back 300m in trip after being a touch weak late at Terang when stepping to 1400m. She was good over the short course at Ballarat two back and her recent ratings are certainly strong enough to have her right in the finish of what looks a fairly moderate maiden today. From gate four, she should lob into a lovely spot in the run and do very little work through the first half of the race and she probably only needs to run up to her effort here at Bendigo four back when fourth to The Globe to be mighty competitive. The wet track is an obvious query but the fitness she would have sixth-run into a campaign should stand her in good stead. (Form Analyst Matt Welsh)
This is a very important race in the career of SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH with a good performance required here. Due to the heavy rainfall over the proceeding 48 hours, the race has been reduced to a seven-horse field which increases the daughter of Daughter of Rich Enuff’s chances. There are queries over her ability to handle the wet but if SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH can cope then she should be featuring in the finish. (Stable)
