Henry Dwyer Racing – Tuesday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has two runners today at Hamilton in CANOBIE LEA and STRATESSA.

Hamilton is rated a Good 4 and with fine, warm weather forecast it will race nice and firm. It’s a track that certainly doesn’t tend to penalise runners up on speed.

Hamilton – Good (4)

Race 5 (3.30pm) Phillips Farm Machinery Maiden Plate

No.11 CANOBIE LEA – Michael Poy (Barrier 7)

CANOBIE LEA heads to Hamilton today where she will tackle a 1400m Maiden. She has drawn gate seven and Michael Poy will take the ride.

CANOBIE LEA has been freshened up since running down the track at Ballarat and she has shown good improvement in two jump-outs between runs, especially in the most recent on the synthetic track where she sat on the speed before running second. This is a moderate maiden and with the in-form Michael Poy in the saddle she gets here chance to be competitive. This will be her first go on a dry deck and the blinkers go back on – both of which could prove positives.

She will be competitive today and confident she can finish in the first four here at odds.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $34 (as at 8am)

Race 7 (4.30pm) TAC Be Races Ready BM58 Handicap

No.3 STRATESSA – Alana Kelly a(2) (Barrier 10)

STRATESSA also heads to Hamilton today where she will resume in a 1200m BM58. She has drawn gate ten and Alana Kelly will ride.

This is lovely kick off point to STRATESSA’s campaign. She got to the line well in her recent Colac jump-out suggesting she is back in good order. The form through Cordilla from last campaign looks very strong and she has run well fresh at 1200m in the past, against arguably stronger opposition than she meets today. She will likely drift back from the wide draw and will be relying on other runners to set a strong enough tempo for her to finish over the top.

The wide barrier isn’t ideal, but provided the track is playing fairly to those in the second half of the field then she’s the horse they have to beat. She is better than the competition she meets today, however she will be coming from the back of the field at a track that might favour the leaders.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $3.20 (as at 8am)
