Henry Dwyer Racing – Tuesday Preview

Bordertown

Race 6 – Almonti

Jockey – Dom Tourneur

2000m – Barrier 5

Last start Moonee Valley winner Almonti takes on the Bordertown Cup over 2000-metres this afternoon. The gelded son of Almonti has been racing in terrific form of late, recording a pair of wins and three placings from his past six runs since August. Jockey Dom Tourneur has drawn gate five and can let his five-year-old roll in the early parts, looking to find cover in the front half of the field heading into the first bend.

The battle for the front is keen early, with Thermordynamic and Stormsarrived to roll across from the outside in search of the lead, while expect Kentucky Nick and Thrill Kill to punch forward from nearer the inside. The latter hits this third-up, having been held up in the home straight when entitled to finish closer at Morphettville Parks ten days ago. Up in trip suits and drawn for a good run. Hardest to beat. Kentucky Nick has been mixing his form of late, very good at Donald two back before an ordinary effort when a beaten favourite last time out. Gets his chance to bounce back here. Each way claims. So too Thermodynamic, who will look to lead throughout, and Dr Dee Dee, who is a five-time winner on his home track.

Almonti can let the speed battle play out before him and enjoy a lovely trail two or three pairs back with cover. He drops in weight from his win at Moonee Valley and brings some strong formlines into this. Must be considered a winning chance.

Currently, Almonti is a $3.80 chance in the market.
