Henry Dwyer Racing – Tuesday Preview

Benalla

Race 5 – Friday At Five

Jockey – Alysha Warren

1612m – Barrier 6

Six-year-old mare Friday At Five comes back to a mile at Benalla this afternoon. The daughter of Zoustar was solid up in trip at Geelong last start, beaten under two lengths into fifth position after coursing wide around the home bend when making her run. Apprentice hoop Alysha Warren takes 2kg off the mare’s back from barrier six, able to land outside or just behind the speed from the outset.

Dark Legacy can use the inside alley to punch through and contest the lead in the early parts, while Lord Domino will roll across from the outside and give Friday AT Five a cart into proceedings in the long run to the home bend. Greta Moon draws for a soft trail in gate two, coming here second-up after a sound effort in the wrong part of the track at Sandown when fresh. Was a Flemington winner second run in last campaign, hardest to beat. Geraldine’s Jewel fits a similar profile, second-up on the back of a good fresh effort a fortnight ago. Twice a winner at this stage of a preparation, each way claims. So too Wanjiru, who should be ready to show something after four runs this time in, and Jaz Tycoon, who comes here full of confidence following a dominant win in lesser grade last start.

Friday At Five maps for a lovely run throughout today’s race, and should have a kick left in the locker turning for home. She gets in well after Alysha’s claim and no surprise to see another honest effort in this. Each way claims.

Currently, Friday At Five is a $6 chance in the market.
