Ballarat Synthetic
Race 3 – Yellow Rock
Jockey – Jack Hill
1400m – Barrier 3
Toronado gelding Yellow Rock gets blinkers on second-up when he steps out to 1400-metres on the synthetic this afternoon. The three-year-old galloper failed to beat a runner home at Donald on debut, always rearward on that occasion and unable to make an impact on the race. Headgear goes on in an attempt to spark him up today, jockey Jack Hill looking to jump with them and find a spot one or two pairs back heading into the bend.
A few will roll forward in a small field, with Peerless Lad and Quizlet to punch through from the middle, while Life Sentence and Lubly Sing can find forward positions from their respective inside/outside draws. Peerless Lad has been good in two of three runs this preparation and blinkers are applied for the first time today. He’ll go forward and look to control the race throughout. The one to beat. Life Sentence was sound two runs back when sent forward at Geelong, not beaten far and just pipped for third by a subsequent winner. He’s a chance if he begins cleanly and puts himself on-speed. These two look the main hopes in a race that doesn’t boast strong form.
Yellow Rock strikes a moderate race to improve today and draws to get a lovely run in transit. He’s worked in blinkers in readiness for today and will get his chance to show something on his home deck out to 1400-metres. Look for a better effort.
Currently, Yellow Rock is a $31 chance in the market.

Race 3 – Lubly Sing
Jockey – Harry Coffey
1400m – Barrier 8
Three-year-old filly Lubly Sing gets blinkers applied second-up on her home track this afternoon. The daughter of Lean Mean Machine settled in the second half of the field when fresh at Donald a fortnight ago, looming to make her run on the bend but perhaps not in the best ground and dropping out to be well-beaten. Harry Coffey rides from the outside gate in a field of eight and can be positive early, looking for the front heading into the bend.

Lubly Sing will need to begin cleanly to find the front in a race that will likely be run at a solid tempo. She’s fitter for the first-up effort and an improved showing is on the cards today. An each way chance in a moderate event.
Currently, Lubly Sing is a $21 chance in the market.
