Henry Dwyer Racing – Tuesday Preview

Ballarat Synthetic

Race 6 – Kyokushin

Jockey – Jack Hill

1200m – Barrier 1

Resuming galloper Kyokushin has his first look at the synthetic on raceday at Ballarat this afternoon. The gelded son of Scissor Kick was sound off a long break at Donald when fresh last preparation, racing consistently from then on before finding the paddock in January. The five-year-old has been just okay in two recent jumpouts but his work at home has improved, and the addition of blinkers should switch him on today. Jack Hill jumps from the inside alley and will look to hold the backs of the leaders throughout.

Not a great deal of early speed in the field of eight, Lacemaker the most likely to punch through from the inside to hold its spot, while Ruminate may elect to roll forward from the outside with The Siscos Kid. Even race with six runners in single figures. Ruminate is first-up on the back of sound jumpout form, and does race well on the poly here (3:1-2-0). Awkward gate but one of the main chances. Lacemaker draws to find the front but was a little disappointing in stronger company last start. No surprise to see her bounce back today. Morning Darling is racing in good fashion, winning twice this preparation and around the mark in all starts. Has raced well without winning on this surface previously. Dwyer stablemate The Siscos Kid looks suited in this company first-up.

Kyokushin is a previous first-up winner and looks suited in this company to kick-off his preparation. He should receive a soft trail behind the leaders, and provided the poly kickback is at a minimum, will have something to offer turning for home. Better over more ground next time, but each way claims in this field.

Currently, Kyokushin is a $5.50 chance in the market.

Ballarat Synthetic

Race 6 – The Siscos Kid

Jockey – Neil Farley

1200m – Barrier 7

Resuming galloper The Siscos Kid kicks off his winter campaign on the synthetic at Ballarat today. The gelded son of Danerich struck winning form last time in, posting three wins from six starts in a preparation that was brought to a premature end. The seven-year-old has returned in good order, his latest jumpout behind Steparty an encouraging effort leading into today. Jockey Neil Farley leaves from gate seven and can be positive early, looking to land outside the lead from the outset.

The Siscos Kid comes here in terrific order and is suited in this grade first-up. He came to hand quickly last preparation, the query today is no wins from eight first-up attempts. If he can find a forward position early, he can be there at the pointy end.

Currently, The Siscos Kid is an $8 chance in the market.
