Terang
Race 7 – Riding High
Jockey – Tayla Childs
1850m – Barrier 5
Steeplechaser Riding High is second-up and fitter when he rises slightly in trip at Terang this afternoon. The gelded son of Raise The Flag was sound when fresh at Werribee a fortnight ago, finding his rivals too slick at the mile distance. Out to 1850-metres is in his favour today, and while still well short of what he’s looking for, is a suitable stepping stone in his preparation. Jockey Tayla Childs leaves from a middle gate and will drift back early, finding cover in the second half of the field before looking to finish off.
Vivideel is the most likely leader in the race, coming here second-up after a solid on-speed showing three weeks ago. He’s down in class and the rise in trip looks ideal here. He can give a sight from the front. Galloping Guru led throughout to record a huge highweight maiden win last start and draws to get the sit on Vivideel here. No reason he can’t go on with it here. Fiorente Spritz looks the only other hope, coming back in grade and racing well of late.
Riding High will gain good fitness from today’s run as he builds into his jumping campaign. He’s fit and well, and while not a realistic winning hope, it would be no surprise to see him beat a couple home.
Currently, Riding High is a $23 chance in the market.

Race 8 – Alors Tu Crois
Jockey – Ryan Houston
1600m – Barrier 10
So You Think mare Alors Tu Crois is first-up over a mile at Terang this afternoon. The five-year-old galloper won when fresh at Kyneton last preparation, with second, third and fourth from that race coming out and winning their next starts. Jockey Ryan Houston leaves from an outside gate and will be positive early, looking to land outside or just behind the speed in the long run to the bend.
Feargal knows only one way and will find the front from a low draw here, while Sacred Eagle and Miletus won’t be far away when runners find their positions. A few with a chance in this. Unseen Ruler and Sir Atlas finished alongside each other when first-up in stronger grade, the former getting in well after the apprentice claim here. Both are winners second-up and should get nice runs off the speed. Strong claims each of two. Sacred Eagle ran well in lesser grade last start after a good effort behind Robrick when fresh. That form reads well for this. Any hint of an on-pace bias and Feargal comes right into calculations. Crown Crusher next best.
Alors Tu Crois has jumped out twice in preparation for today, her latest effort was solid when given a shake to finish off. She should be able to find a forward position with a long run to the bend, but fitness late in the race is the query today. Has the ability to win in this company, each way claims first-up.
Currently, Alors Tu Crois is a $17 chance in the market.
