Race 1 – Parori
Jockey – Will Price
1000m – Barrier 3
Four-year-old mare Parori is first-up since her debut run in July this afternoon. The daughter of Star Witness ran fairly on that occasion, caught wide on the Ballarat synthetic circuit in a race dominated by those on-speed. Jockey Will Price comes into barrier three post-scratchings and will be able to settle closer to the speed in a small field today.
Both runners drawn underneath Parori have good early speed, and could set up a lovely trail for Price in the early parts. Here’s To Jane has been knocking around at the picnics and is unlikely to have the ability to go deep into this, while Jalpido is first-up for six months and may need the run. City Hustler can roll across to sit outside Parori in the run and strips fitter second-up today. He was sound when runner-up fresh at Mornington, beating all bar a late swooper there. Only needs natural improvement to go close in this. Redoute’s Night resumes on the back of a jumpout win and has been well-supported in the market. He was good in his first preparation around some capable horses and must be considered a winning chance in a small field. Zelithaki is a five-year-old debutant and shapes as the unknown commodity.
Parori has the ability to win a race of this nature, but how she handles the occasion is key to her chances. Her jumpouts have been good, and on her best behaviour, will prove hard to toss.
Currently, Parori is a $2.50 chance in the market.

Race 3 – Stiletto Falls
Jockey – Neil Farley
1500m – Barrier 1
Headwater mare Stiletto Falls gets blinkers for the first time when out to 1500-metres this afternoon. The four-year-old galloper has had two runs this preparation, running soundly at Ararat before a disappointing effort at Bendigo seven weeks ago. Up in trip looks to suit, and jockey Neil Farley can be positive from the inside alley and look to hold a forward position from the chute start.
Speed appears okay with Romaji to roll forward from gate two, while Aquilanova, Blip and Moon Lightning will all have a look early doors. Even affair. Street Seeker gets blinkers for her debut and has had good market support. She won her latest jumpout and looks ready to run well first-up. In the mix. Tosen Warrior has been solid at both runs this preparation and races like the extra distance today will suit. How far back he gets in the early stages could be crucial, but must be considered a winning hope. Savea did enough on debut at Seymour to suggest there’s something there, while Lucky Duck has been sound in easier maidens than this. Both in with an each way show.
Stiletto Falls gets her chance with headgear from the inside gate today, Farley looking to step cleanly and be right there turning for home. Her best hope is to pinch a break in the run home and set a task for the more fancied runners back in the field to run her down. Needs to improve, but can finish in the top four in this field.
Currently, Stiletto Falls is a $46 chance in the market.
