Race 4 – Tennessee Maggie
Jockey – Jaylah Kennedy
1500m – Barrier 4
Highland Reel filly Tennessee Maggie is second-up today, following a sound fresh showing at Geelong three weeks ago. Henry Dwyer’s three-year-old has yet to place from six attempts but looks to have returned in good order and will present fitter this afternoon. Apprentice jockey Jaylah Kennedy rides from barrier four and can find a position with cover in the front half of the field.
Speed comes from out wider with Appealing getting the blinkers back on and dropping back from a mile, while African Pioneer can boot up from his inside draw and be prominent in the run. This runner was very good on debut behind Blazing Harry before doing a bit wrong on a heavy track last start. Back on top of the ground looks to suit and he should be ready for 1500-metres third-up. Goes in with a winning hope. Tenace was tracking nicely before being outclassed in Listed grade two starts back. Failed on a heavy deck last time out and expecting him to bounce back here. Appealing looks close to a win; she’s been racing consistently without breaking through in nine tries. It will fall her way eventually. Concede a chance to Dynamic Deel who looks to have returned well from a break.
Tennessee Maggie can be competitive here with any natural improvement from her first-up run. She’s drawn to get a soft run in transit and gets good weight relief after Kennedy’s 3kg claim. She’ll likely peak third-up but getting back on top of the ground looks a positive and a forward showing is expected today. In with an each way chance.
Currently, Tennessee Maggie is a $26 chance in the market.

Code Of Silence finished off his latest jumpout at this track nicely, running up behind stablemate and subsequent winner, Morpurgo. He’ll take improvement from the run and be better over further as he progresses through his preparation, the stable keen to see him hit the line strongly in the concluding stages of the race.
Currently, Code Of Silence is a $15 chance in the market.
