Ballarat (poly)
Race 9 – Dancethenightaway
Jockey – John Allen
1500m – Barrier 5
Highland Reel filly Dancethenightaway drops significantly in class for today’s 1500-metre contest on her home synthetic track. Dwyer’s three-year-old galloper led them up in benchmark-70 company at Mornington last start, feeling the pinch in the run home of the 1600-metre event. She comes here third-up and fitter, jockey John Allen to be positive from a good draw and look to be on-speed again today.
Ha She and Pocket Sage will look to cross from wide draws, while Navillus Excel may roll forward from even wider early on. Moon Yanco comes back in grade after a luckless run at Stawell a month ago. She likes the synthetic track and is drawn to get the drop on the leaders. Looks hard to beat here. Obedience was sound enough first-up and will find this easier. Needing luck from the inside but can’t be discounted as a chance in this. Stardom Awaayts rattled home from last here to win his maiden three weeks ago. Look for him to be working home late again.
Dancethenightaway will appreciate dropping back to benchmark-58 company today and should enjoy the tactical advantage of sitting on or just behind the speed. She presents fitter for recent racing and can stay in this for longer. A genuine each way chance.
Currently, Dancethenightaway is a $5 chance in the market.
