Henry Dwyer Racing – Tuesday preview

Kilmore

Race 4 – Toffee Street

Jockey – Josh Cartwright

1107m – Barrier 6

Street Boss mare Toffee Street is on the quick back-up today after having excuses at Stony Creek last week. The four-year-old was disappointing on face value there but was reported to have slow recovery rate and the stable see no reason not to run here here today. Her record at 1100-metres is solid, placing three out of four runs and today’s contest isn’t star-studded. Josh Cartwright will let her jump and find rhythm from a middle draw and look to lob in a nice spot just off the leading bunch. First starter Tojaki might hold the key to this race, while Oasis Gold ran well in a stronger race last start. The Dwyer runner, if she performs at or near her best, can run top-four or better in this event.

Currently, Toffee Street is a $7.50 chance in the market.

Race 5 – Elmore Lad

Jockey – Madison Lloyd

1207m – Barrier 11

Eight-year-old gelding Elmore Lad steps out in the Dwyer colours for the second time today, presenting fitter for his run at Geelong three weeks ago. The son of Dr Doute’s ran along in the lead there and tired late, though not disgraced in similar company last start. Madison Lloyd will ride her mount more quietly today and look to hit the line strongly in the short Kilmore straight. Tapeesa will start a short-priced favourite in this, returning from a spell and looking good at the jumpouts. The race opens up from there and Elmore Lad, while looking for more ground, can pick runners off late and gain important fitness for his next outing.

Currently, Elmore Lad is a $23 chance in the market.
