Hamilton
Race 8 – Kasami
Jockey – Mitch Aitken
1100m – Barrier 2
Five-year-old mare Kasami heads to Hamilton second-up today following a sound return at Murray Bridge on Christmas eve. She wasn’t beaten far there in the 900-metre scamper and drops in grade for her run this afternoon. Jockey Mitch Aitken jumps from barrier two and will want to come out running at a track that, when dry, generally favours those on speed. A track upgrade is expected during the meeting and by race eight the sun and wind will have played its part in firming the Hamilton surface. True Nobility will start favourite here but has only recorded a maiden win in his nine career starts. Chances conceded to Thunder Park and Onika, but Dwyer’s mare must be considered among the main hopes. A clean getaway is crucial to this mare’s chances today.
Currently, Kasami is a $9 chance in the market.
Race 8 – The Siscos Kid
Jockey – Tahlia Hope
1100m – Barrier 6
The second Dwyer runner in this race is six-year-old gelding The Siscos Kid. This son of Danerich also presents second-up and will likely find his rivals too sharp at the 1100-metres on a leader biased track. He was ok in a stronger race first-up at Geelong where he ran home in solid time over the final two furlongs. Jockey Tahlia Hope will settle towards the rear from barrier six and run home late, but the stable are using today as a fitness builder for future runs.
Currently, The Siscos Kid is a $12 chance in the market.
