Henry Dwyer Racing – Tuesday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has three runners today in DIAMONDSANDPEARLS, VALENTINO’S ON and TELEKINESIS running at Ballarat.

Ballarat – All Weather Track

Racing is on the synthetic at Ballarat, a track that has raced very well throughout the winter months. The key to winning is momentum, horses can make ground provided they are brought into the race at the right time.

Race 2 (1.30pm) Pipe Pro Directional Drilling Maiden

No.8 DIAMONDSANDPEARLS – Ben Allen (Barrier 8)

DIAMONDSANDPEARLS heads to Ballarat today where she will contest a 1500m Maiden. She has drawn gate eight and Ben Allen will ride.

DIAMONDSANDPEARLS comes up the favourite here. She has had the one run for the stable and she was good up at Mildura over 1400m, hitting the line strongly to run second. She was comprehensively beaten by Paramedic there but there was a massive gap back to third and the race rated well. She has run some good races in very handy maidens in then past and this is as easy a race as she has contested to date. She draws a touch awkward in gate eight and will come out neutral and be midfield off the fence and provided she can get a reasonable enough run in the race then she is a key winning chance.

She’s in really good order heading into today’s race, the 1500 metre suits and while a grass track may have suited better, she should still find herself fighting out the finish here.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $3.50 (as at 8am)

Race 7 (4pm) Sportsbet Take A Sec Before You Bet BM58

No.8 VALENTINO’S ON – Ben Allen (Barrier 9)

VALENTINO’S ON will be out to make it two wins on the trot in a 1500m BM58 at Ballarat today. She has drawn gate nine and Ben Allen will take the ride.

VALENTINO’S ON jumped-out impressively between runs leading into last start and she backed that up with a very strong maiden win at this track over 1400m. She led them up at a reasonable clip and was there to be beaten if she had any chinks, but she was far too strong in the drive to the line. While a few of her rivals have reached their mark, this mare still has plenty of upside and there was a big gap back to third last time out. There does look to be a good deal of speed drawn underneath so the map may be a touch sticky, but with even luck she can be competitive again.

She likes the surface and being on top of the ground and while she is up in class here she should acquit herself well.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $7 (as at 8am)

No.2 TELEKINESIS – John Allen (Barrier 9)

TELEKINESIS is our third runner at Ballarat today where he will contest a 1200m BM58. He has drawn gate nine and John Allen will take the ride.

TELEKINESIS had plenty of excuses at this track over 1100m last time out and you could nearly put a pen through that, especially given he had jumped-out well prior. He does his best work at this track and if he can find his best ratings then he can certainly be competitive. He had jumped-out really well leading into that last start effort and his form prior this campaign was good enough to be in the finish of a race like this.

There were a couple of minor issues following his last race but there’s no concern with those ahead of today, we have a senior jockey on board and while odds-on favourite TESTA ROCK does look hard to beat, she does have barrier 1. From barrier 9 we should have plenty of momentum, even if stuck three wide, which will see him running home strongly.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $6.50 (as at 8am)
