Henry Dwyer Racing – Tuesday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has two runners today in ARAPILES and EXLOVER running at Ballarat.

Ballarat – All Weather Track

Racing today is on the Ballarat Synthetic which is a track that has been racing well throughout the winter. As the season has gone on it has become easier to make ground. Tempo and momentum is everything in synthetic racing.

Race 2 (1.30pm) Cervus Equipment 3YO Maiden Plate

No.1 ARAPILES – Lucinda Boyd (Barrier 6)

ARAPILES heads to Ballarat today where he will contest a 1200m 3YO Maiden. He has drawn gate six and Lucinda Boyd will ride.

ARAPILES jumped-out well at St Arnaud ahead of this preparation, signalling he has returned in good order. He settled off what was a ridiculously slow tempo first up at this track and trip and spotting Tessneem a tactical advantage and fitness was always going to be a tough ask. He was OK in the drive to the line and with that run under his belt he can be most competitive here. He had just the one jump-out leading into the campaign so should strip notably fitter for his first up run.

This race sets up well for him, our aim is to roll across from the barrier as he has good gate speed, with LADY CUMBERLAND looking like our biggest danger today. He’s in good order, will be better second up today and this race does look easier. He should be hard to beat here.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $4.40 (as at 8am)

Race 3 (2pm) Suez Maiden Plate

No.1 EXLOVER – Lucinda Boyd (Barrier 7)

EXLOVER also heads to Ballarat today where he will contest a 1000m Maiden. He has drawn gate seven and Lucinda Boyd will ride.

EXLOVER showed good ability in his first preparation, running well at both Geelong and Hamilton without the best of luck in running. He was a touch disappointing first up effort at Swan Hill after a long break and we have freshened up since then with a couple of good gallops in between. He is five-weeks between runs into this and has shown he has improved in that time. He will be ridden quietly today from the barrier to get cover and will be looking to finish off late.

He galloped on Saturday morning quite well on the synthetic so it should bode well for today. Today we are more looking to see him running home strongly and being more competitive than last start so a place chance might be his best bet today.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $8.50 (as at 8am)
