Henry Dwyer Racing – Tuesday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has two runners today in TOP CRITIC and TELEKINESIS running at Ballarat.

Ballarat – All Weather Track

The Ballarat Synthetic track has raced reasonably well this season, although it is rarely a disadvantage to be too far away from the speed. There are reasonably strong northerly winds forecast today so keep an eye on what impact they may be having throughout the meeting.

Race 4 (2.30pm) Polytrack Maiden Plate

No.9 TOP CRITIC – Michael Poy (Barrier 12)

TOP CRITIC heads to Ballarat today where she will contest a 1000m Maiden. She has drawn out in gate twelve and Michael Poy will ride.

TOP CRITIC went around in a reasonably fast run race over the Swan Hill Carnival and she ran reasonably well there in a maiden that rated OK. She was the best of the on-pacers there in a race put on for the backmarkers and it was certainly a step in the right direction getting back onto firmer ground after struggling at Kyneton first up on a rain-affected track. There’s a bit of speed drawn underneath her today, but if Michael Poy can get across into a prominent position without doing too much work then she can be most competitive. She will be ridden quietly from the barrier and follow the favourite from there.

With even luck she will be running on strongly and is good enough to be fighting out the finish here.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $7 (as at 8am)

Race 5 (3pm) Porter Plant CG&E BM58 Handicap

No.5 TELEKINESIS – Logan McNeil a(2) (Barrier 6)

TELEKINESIS also heads to Ballarat today where he will contest an 1100m BM58. He has drawn gate six and Logan McNeil will ride.

TELEKINESIS likes this synthetic surface and he comes into the race off a strong, on-speed showing in a handy BM64 behind LOVIN’ LAUGHS. His last start effort was better than it looked as it wasn’t really a day for leaders with brutal weather conditions making it tough. He got a touch keen out in front but held on well at the 1200m. TELEKINESIS is a galloper with a sharp turn of foot and we will look to sit either outside the leader or three wide just off the speed and look to use that powerful finish to reel them in late.

He is close to his peak fitness and the little drop back in trip to 1100m and the drop back to what is a moderate BM58 is ideal. He should be going very close today.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $2.90 (as at 8am)
