Henry Dwyer Racing – Warrnambool Carnval Day 1 Preview

The HDR stable has one runner today in BRANDERS RULE at WARRNAMBOOL.

Warrnambool – Soft (6)

The track has come up a Soft 6 for Day 1 of the Carnival. Track patterns can be key at the ‘Bool, especially as the meeting goes on. The forecast calls for a shower or two on Tuesday, but nothing significant, so the track should hold up OK. Early in the day I suspect the inside will be no disadvantage but as the week goes on expect them to slowly ease away from the fence. (Form Analyst Matt Welsh)

No.11 BRANDERS RULE– John Allen (Barrier 12)

BRANDERS RULE (13) heads to Day 1 of the Warrnambool May Carnival where he will resume in a 1200m BM70 (Race 9, 4.00pm). He has drawn gate thirteen and John Allen will ride.

BRANDERS RULE resumes here for a new stable having formerly been with Mitch Beer, and at an earlier point in his career spending time with Peter Moody. He showed good ability early doors, running well in a Vain Stakes as a 3YO. He has been able to win two from four fresh which bodes well for today and two jump-outs leading in should have him fit enough to fire fresh. That said, he was placed under a good deal of pressure late in his recent Stawell jump-out and I would’ve liked to see him go a touch better. The stable is flying, the strong tempo should suit and his best is good enough to be competitive here, but the market seems to have him assessed about right at $26.

The stable is extremely excited here for BRANDERS RULE to debut for the stable after being transferred across recently. He comes into this with a very strong first-up record, with two wins from four tries first up. John Allen will look to ride him quietish and see how he hits the line today. Certainly has the ability to be winning today. (Stable)

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $27 (as at 11am)
