Henry Dwyer Racing – Tuesday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has two runners today with TOFFEE STREET and ELEGIST running at Bendigo.

Bendigo – Good (4)

The Bendigo track is rated a Good 4 and with fine weather forecast it will hover around that range at the start of the day before likely being upgraded to a Good 3 at some point. The rail goes out 4m after being in the true on Golden Mile Day Saturday week ago when the track raced perfectly. They may get off the fence a touch as the day goes on but largely I’d expect it to again race well.

Race 2 (2pm) The Big Screen Company 2YO Fillies Maiden Plate

No.12 TOFFEE STREET – Michael Poy (Barrier 4)

TOFFEE STREET resumes in an 1100m 2YO Fillies Maiden at Bendigo on Tuesday. She has drawn gate four and Michael Poy will ride.

TOFFEE STREET showed good ability in a trial and jump-out last preparation before never really firing in a Blue Diamond Preview, but she did have a few minor issues including getting her tongue over the bit. She has been given a short break and has derived good benefit from that first racing preparation. She is a classy filly but isn’t totally screwed down as yet with improvement to come and today will give us a good indication of where she is at. She will be travelling where she is comfortable and will be running on late.

She goes in today without a trial so there is a little bit of unknown, she is a work in progress and has shown us she has nice ability and while she could well easily be in the finish today, we are more just looking to see her putting in a good run to start her campaign.

Race 6 (4pm) AVIS Bendigo Car & Truck Rental BM64

No.6 ELEGIST – Michael Poy (Barrier 8)

ELEGIST heads today where he will tackle an 1000m BM64. He has drawn gate eleven and Michael Poy will ride.

ELEGIST has developed a habit of missing the kick and he did that again first up before rattling home in the 2nd best last 200m split of the meeting on a day it was tough to make ground at Albury. They ran a 1000m track record there so there was a bit of depth to that Class 2 and it should stand him in good stead here. The positive here is there’s good speed up front which should again allow him to get back and hit the line late. This looks a good second-up assignment for this promising galloper.

He’s in good order and today is the ideal track and distance for him today, he will get back but he will have a chance to wind up down the outside and finishing strongly. It will be whether he is close enough to catch them, he’s a top three chance today.
