Warrnambool
Race 8 – Riding High
Jockey – Jaylah Kennedy
2000m – Barrier 2
Nine-year-old steeplechaser Riding High is second-up at Warrnambool today looking to further build his fitness for the jumps season to come. The gelded son of Raise The Flag was first-up over a mile at Ballarat a fortnight ago where he failed to beat a runner home, and little else is expected of him today. The main hope in the race is local galloper Glitter ‘N’ Gold for Lindsey Smith. This mare had no luck at The Valley fresh and always improves second-up. Smith is hard to beat on his home deck and if his mare is fit enough she can be winning this event. Maatsuyker has been racing soundly in harder grades and will appreciate the drop in class today. He’s well into his preparation and will have no troubles getting the trip. Conceding minor chances to Sunday’s Best and Takumi. The Dwyer camp will be happy to see their runner get around safely today with bigger things in mind down the track. Look for him to be getting warm late.
Currently, Riding High is a $35 chance in the market.
