Pakenham
Race 2 – Flyball
Jockey – Blaike McDougall
1200m – Barrier 8
Two-year-old gelding Flyball has his first look at the races over 1200-metres at Pakenham later tonight. The son of Starspangledbanner is having his second preparation for the Henry Dwyer stable after not being ready for the rigours of raceday first time around. Dwyer’s debutant has jumped out soundly and all indications point to tonight’s distance being well short of his best. Jockey Blaike McDougall will drift back from a wide draw and be allowed to settle into his rhythm at the rear of the field. The young galloper should enjoy the open space Pakenham provides and the stable are looking for him to run through the line nicely at his first go. There are a couple of talented sprinters in this, headed by Pantelone who just missed on debut at Moe a fortnight ago. Maher/Eustace first-starter Brave Mead won a recent trial impressively, beating home subsequent metropolitan winner Maharba in the process. These two sit at the top of the market and look hard to toss, but conceding a chance to Coast Princess who will be working home late. Tonight is a good starting point for Flyball who will be better suited out in trip in future starts.
Currently, Flyball is a $61 chance in the market.
