Race 2 – Tennessee Maggie
Jockey – Jack Hill
1600m – Barrier 1
Highland Reel filly Tennessee Maggie progresses to a mile tonight on the back on improved showing at Terang last start. She was slowly away at 1200-metres there but recorded the second fastest final 800-metres of the race, suggesting the rise in trip will be suitable on a big track. Jack Hill has drawn the inside gate and will want to begin better here to avoid being trapped on the rail in the back half of the field. Of the dangers, Scapini and Freedom both ran well at Mornington last start and look winning hopes, while Lievore will improve second-up. Dwyer’s three-year-old is having her fourth start this preparation and will have a fitness edge on a few of these. She gets her chance to run into the placings tonight.
Currently, Tennessee Magic is a $31 chance in the market.
