Henry Dwyer Racing – Thursday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has three runners today in FIRST DIVISION, UNDER THE TASSELS and RIDING HIGH running at Bendigo.

Bendigo- Soft 6

The track is rated a Soft 6 and with cool conditions and a shower or two forecast it is unlikely to improve. Bendigo is a track that generally gives all horses a chance and it has been racing very well of late.

Race 1 (1pm) The Big Screen Company 2YO Maiden Plate

No.7 FIRST DIVISION – Michael Poy (Barrier 3)

FIRST DIVISION heads to Bendigo today where she will make her debut and contest a 1000m Maiden. She has drawn gate three and Michael Poy takes the ride.

The stable has always had a good opinion of this filly, but she isn’t totally screwed down as yet having only the one jump-out from Stawell. It’s a nice enough race with some decent fillies in this field so it will give us a good guide as to where she’s at. This filly looks like she has city-class so she should certainly acquit herself well and she will just find a position in the run where she is comfortable and look to run on late. Excited to see how she goes with a bright future on the cards, with today a good starting point.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $7.50 (as at 8am)

Race 4 (2.30pm) Boltons Office National F&M Maiden

No.11 UNDER THE TASSELS – John Allen (Barrier 2)

UNDER THE TASSELS also heads to Bendigo today where she will contest a 1600m Maiden. She has drawn gate two and John Allen takes the ride.

UNDER THE TASSELS is racing very well. She was home in best of the day splits at Donald three back before hitting the line very well at Mildura two starts ago. She was left to do all the work at Swan Hill last time out, ultimately going out 1.2L above standard for the first 800m of the race before giving ground in the straight. The hard inside probably wasn’t the best ground there at Swan Hill last time out but she was a touch plain late by the same token. Hopefully she can get a bit of cover just in behind the speed from gate two and with a soft run in transit she can certainly make her presence felt.

She will be ridden quietely today from the barrier to get her where she is comfortable and therefore she might need a little luck in the run, but she is a better grade of filly than many of these, with THE LION INSIDE clearly the danger, and she should acquit herself well and bounce back from last start.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $3.60 (as at 8am)

Race 6 (3.30pm) Sheahan Plumbing BM64 Handicap

No.2 RIDING HIGH – Lucinda Boyd (Barrier 6)

RIDING HIGH is our third runner at Bendigo and he will contest a 2400m BM64. He has drawn gate six and Lucinday Boyd takes the ride.

RIDING HIGH is en route to Pakenham over the obstacles so another run on the flat will get him cherry ripe for that, he ran a great race at Swan Hill last start and this doesn’t look any stronger than that. He is in super order at the moment and the big track will suit him, Lucinda knows the horse really well as she will look to sit just off the speed and have one last crack at them. Only needs to hold his form from last start to be in the placings here and everything in his work suggests he is on track to do that.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $13 (as at 8am)
