Henry Dwyer Racing – Thursday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has one runner today in MORTAR at Bendigo.

Bendigo- Heavy(8)

As at Wednesday, Bendigo was rated a Heavy 8 and it’s unlikely to improve too much prior to the races kicking off on Thursday. The rail is back to the true having been out 8m at the most recent meeting meaning there’s plenty of fresh ground towards the inside and it wouldn’t surprise to see those on speed have some edge early in the day. As the meeting goes on the track will likely chop out a little and they may edge away form the fence. Bendigo is a spacious circuit with a generous 400m home straight that generally gives most horses their chance. (Form Analyst Matt Welsh)

Race 3 (1:30pm)  Budget Bendigo Maiden Plate  1400m

No.16 MORTAR – Mitch Aitken (Barrier 6)

MORTAR (6) heads to Bendigo on Thursday where he will contest a 1400m Maiden (Race 2, 1.30pm). He has drawn gate six and Mitch Aitken will ride.

MORTAR was pretty strong behind Unusual Culture (ran OK at Caulfield last weekend) in a Horsham jump-out prior to his first up run. He resumed over 1200m at Swan Hill and I thought he did enough there for a horse that seems to be looking for further. He looks to map quite well form gate six and provided he gets through the heavy track – which is some unknown – he can figure in the finish. The $14 on offer looks over the odds.(Form Analyst Matt Welsh)

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $10(as at 6pm)
