Henry Dwyer Racing – Thursday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has one runner today with GIMME THE GOSS at Kilmore.

Despite receiving 77mm of rainfall for the week, Kilmore has dried out to a Good 4, and with fine, warm weather forecast it will likely improve further. Kilmore is a nuanced racecourse that has an uphill straight that can prove challenging for some horses. Generally those closer to the speed are advantaged.

Kilmore – Good (4)

Race 5 (3.30pm) C&M Build Group BM58 Handicap

No.5 GIMME THE GOSS – Lucinda Boyd (Barrier 7)

GIMME THE GOSS heads to Kilmore today where she will tackle an 1112m BM58. She has drawn gate seven and Lucinda Boyd will ride.

GIMME THE GOSS is capable of rolling forward here. She resumed at Geelong in a similar sort of BM58 where she sat outside the leader in a race they went at moderate fractions: 5L below standard to the 800m mark. That leader kicked on and ran very well and despite travelling nicely to the home bend, GIMME THE GOSS didn’t really let down over the concluding stages. GIMME THE GOSS’ best form would ‘just win’ a race like this and her jump-out prior to that first-up run was sound enough.

With three weeks between runs, she will probably derive benefit again from today’s run and we will be looking to settle midfield in the run to save a sprint late. Most likely a place chance at best with an eye to next start stripping fitter.
