The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has two runners today at Cranbourne.
Cranbourne – Soft (6)
Race 3 (2pm) Core Protective Group 3yo Maiden Plate
No.15 THE SISCOS KID – John Allen (Barrier 3)
THE SISCOS KID heads to Cranbourne today where he will contest a 1300m Maiden. He has drawn gate three and John Allen has been booked to ride.
This is the first time we have raced at Cranbourne since May 22 when there were a few issues with the track. As of this morning, the track is rated a Soft 6, but with a little rain forecast today it may further impact the track. It is rarely a disadvantage to be too far away from the speed at Cranbourne and with fresh ground across the track that should be the case today.
THE SISCOS KID is big odds here but the market doesn’t seem to have taken into account just how unlucky he was at Echuca last start, he had no luck at any stage in the straight. He has always shown a degree of ability in trials and jump-outs, but seems to have plenty of improvement to come. He should get a lovely run here from the soft draw and the step to 1300m looks ideal – at $41, he’s over the odds.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $41 (as at 8am)
Race 7 (4pm) Obrien Real Estate Bm70 Handicap
No.10 DOVES CRY – Ben Allen (Barrier 10)
DOVES CRY has missed a few runs of late due to bad barriers and she heads to Cranbourne today having won at the track previously. She’s fitter for her last start fourth at Sale and will again take further benefit out of today’s run. Has won on the soft before so track won’t be an issue, she should be running on and might be one to include in the multiples.
TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $19 (as at 8am)
