Warrnambool
Race 1 – Governor King
Jockey – Neil Farley
1400m – Barrier 8
Three-year-old galloper Governor King makes his racetrack debut over 1400-metres at Warrnambool this afternoon. The gelded son of Fiorente has jumped out well in preparation for today, winning his last hitout at Avoca in easy fashion when not asked for an effort. Neil Farley rides from barrier eight and will drift back early, finding cover in the second half of the field before winding up late in the piece.
Speed is drawn outside with Love For Us and La Zampa to go fast early, while Madam Fleiss can use the inside to boot through and look for the front. Night People is third-up and fitter, getting out to what looks a more suitable distance today. He was good at the end of 1100-metres last start and draws for a soft run here. One of the main hopes. La Zampa jumped to the front and won his latest jumpout by a space under a ride. He’ll give a forward showing on debut. Bello Bello was good when runner-up at Donald a fortnight ago. Any improvement from that run has her right in the mix today. Hard to enthuse others on exposed form.
Governor King finds a suitable race to begin his career today and will get his chance to work into the race on the home bend. He’ll be better out to a mile and further in future starts, but on ability alone, he’s a genuine top three chance today.
Currently, Governor King is a $5.50 chance in the market.

Race 3 – Off The Deep End
Jockey – John Allen
1700m – Barrier 13
Impressive last start winner Off The Deep End finds a competitive benchmark-58 race at Warrnambool this afternoon. The four-year-old daughter of Deep Field improved sharply when ridden positively at Ballarat last start, scorching away from her rivals to win her maiden by four lengths. Jockey John Allen will employ similar tactics today, jumping from a wide gate but looking to roll forward heading into the first bend.
Deal Obtained, Statesville and Scandalous Scarlet will want to push forward from out wide in the early stages, while Hesitate and Warlist can punch through from lower draws and hold prominent positions in the run. Impossible to knock the form of Super Snitch this preparation, who has registered a win and two seconds from three runs. His runner-up efforts have been behind Longtimedreaming and Eishaa, who are both subsequent winners in stronger grade. He’ll get a nice run behind the speed in this and can have the last crack late. Hardest to beat. Stardom Awaayts was well-backed at Ararat last weekend and backs up on his home track today. He improves third-up and is in the each way mix. So too Deal Obtained and Scandalous Scarlet who will be given every hope from near the front, while no surprise to see Parvati Party figure in the finish after a good closing effort at Donald in stronger grade a fortnight ago.
Off The Deep End will continue to improve with three runs under her belt and will get her chance from the front of proceedings today. She’ll do a bit of work early to find her position but if she settles throughout the run, can give a kick late and prove hard to run down. An each way chance in a tricky race.
Currently, Off The Deep End is an $8.50 chance in the market.
