Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday Preview

Flemington

Race 2 – Wuddzz

Jockey – Madison Lloyd

2550m – Barrier 5

Six-year-old galloper Wuddzz returns to the races at Flemington this afternoon, after a month between runs. The gelded son of Complacent has had conditions against him at his past couple, striking ‘that’ leader-biased track at The Valley two back before not fully letting down on a firm surface at the same track last start. He gets a dry deck again today, but at this early stage of the day, should still have a little give for him to work with. Jockey Madison Lloyd leaves from barrier five and won’t push early, finding a position midfield or worse with cover to settle in the run.

Topweight Affordable will look to land in the first two pairs from a good draw here, while Bond Street Beau will roll across and challenge for the lead from out wider on the course. Expect Sunday Buzz to use an inside draw to his advantage and be prominent early, setting up a lovely trail for King’s Crossing from gate three. This galloper was runner-up behind First Immortal two starts back before a solid effort at Caulfield last time out. He’s nine weeks between runs but that First Immortal reference is impossible to ignore. In a very competitive race, he’s just on top. Insulation has won two on the bounce and looks ready for the rise in trip today. Drawn for a soft run and everything suggests he’ll be strong at the end of this. Rebadge has improved with every start this preparation and could peak fourth-up here. He was strong late in the piece over 2040-metres last start and no surprise to see him eat up 2550-metres here. Fearentless comes through the same race, finding the line well and looking for extra distance. Affordable can be in this for a long way if he gets his own way up front. Others wouldn’t surprise in a real dartboard job.

Wuddzz has the ability to win a race like this but isn’t at his best on a dry surface. Lloyd can look to get a nice trail into the race behind improving runners, and her gelding will appreciate the expanses of the big Flemington track. Wuddzz will get his chance to balance up and run through the line, and if there’s any juice left in the surface, will be hitting the line strongly. An each way chance in a wode open affair.

Currently, Wuddzz is a $12 chance in the market.
