Casterton
Race 5 – The Siscos Kid
Jockey – Jack Hill
1200m – Barrier 4
Seven-year-old galloper The Siscos Kid is second-up and fitter at Casterton this afternoon. The gelded son of Danerich was sound when fresh at Geelong four weeks ago, and will appreciate the drop in class this afternoon. Jockey Jack Hill can be positive from the outset, looking to settle leaders’ back in the early stages.
Not a stack of early speed in this, with Mandjar likely to punch forward from a low draw, while Shalily and Edna Doreen can roll across from out wider. Sun Samurai has been very good at his past three starts without winning and is clearly hardest to beat in this. He can settle closer to the speed from a better draw and will be strong late. Shalily was trending towards a win before not much went right at Moe last start. She’s the best of the on-pace runners and goes in the each way mix. The race drops away from here, it’s hard to make a case for many others.
The Siscos Kid finds a suitable race today and always improves with a run under his belt. He should get a soft run in transit, and if he can get rolling before the home bend, he’ll look the winner in the home straight.
Currently, The Siscos Kid is a $3 chance in the market.
