Ballarat
Race 2 – Silence Please
Jockey – Brian Higgins
1200m – Barrier 2
Three-year-old gelding Silence Please has his second race start on his home deck today following a disappointing effort on debut. The son of So You Think finished a long way from the winner on that occasion but has since won an Ararat jumpout, suggesting we should see an improved performance this afternoon. Jockey Brian Higgins leaves from gate three and can find a comfortable position midfield with cover, saving an effort for the home straight. Squaw and Self Worth will push forward from middle alleys while Palantus won’t be far away from the inside. The latter has finished runner-up in all three career starts to date and is sure to be thereabouts again today for Maher/Eustace. Thida was sound on debut for a break and looks to have returned well following a Mortlake jumpout. Has the advantage of barrier one and is the runner over the odds here. Spare Coin was good in strong maiden during the Warrnambool carnival and Kandyan is worth watching on debut. Silence Please will appreciate a soft track today and Dwyer has made a few gear changes for today’s race. Improvement is expected and if he runs up to his latest jumpout he presents as an each way chance on home soil.
Currently, Silence Please is a $34 chance in the market.
