Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday preview

Hamilton

Race 8 – Furioso

Jockey – Josh Cartwright

2200m – Barrier 7

Jumping prospect Furioso steps up in trip second-up at Hamilton this afternoon. The Atlante gelding has taken improvement from his fresh run four weeks ago where he found the mile start well short of his liking and finished near the tail. He’ll appreciate the jump to 2200-metres today and jockey Josh Cartwright can be more positive in the early stages from a middle gate. Alblazer will roll forward from an outside draw and park somewhere near the speed. He won his maiden at Edenhope last start and could be one to go on with the job. Fifth Husband is another who will look for a forward position in running. First go out to this trip and Cartwright won’t want to be on his back as he tires in the run home. Royal Fox hasn’t had the greatest of luck at his past couple and not sure the inside draw is a positive for him. However if Yendall can plot a clear path he will prove hard to beat. Harry Hot Pants will be the closer from the back of the field. He made many lengths from the tail at Donald last start and the extra distance here will suit. The race thins out from there with many on a jumps path and using today’s run as a pipe-opener. Furioso will improve off the run today but is better for the hitout at Ballarat. He’ll settle in the front half of the field and can kick on into the prizemoney. A top four hope.

Currently, Furioso is a $20 chance in the market.
