Warrnambool
Race 1 – Berry Foxie
Jockey – Michael Poy
1200m – Barrier 2
Three-year-old debutant Berry Foxie kicks off her racing career in a competitive maiden sprint at Warrnambool this afternoon. The daughter of Rommel has been seen twice at the jumpouts, the first a sound effort behind Rich Glow at Ararat in moderate time before an okay gallop on the synthetic. Trainer Dwyer hinted that his filly may be nearing the end of her first preparation but is keen to see what she produces under today’s raceday pressure. Six of the eight runners here are in single figures, pointing to the openness of this event. Of the unraced, Busuttin/Young runner Diddley Squat has trialled well, as has Xtramagic for trainer Paul Preusker. Red Fox looks the main hope of those with raceday experience. Jockey Michael Poy will want to step well from his inside draw on Berry Foxie and give his filly every chance to let down on the big track.
Currently, Berry Foxie is a $13 chance in the market.
