Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday preview

Werribee

Race 1 – End Of War

Jockey – Dean Holland

1000m – Barrier 3

Impending filly End Of War makes her debut in the opening event at Werribee over 1000-metres. The speedy three-year-old has looked sharp at the trials and the sprint trip looks ideal to kick off her racing career. Jockey Dean Holland can be prominent in the run from an inside draw and the stable believe a top-three finish is within her grasp here. This is a race full of inexperienced runners and of the unraced commodities, the Dwyer filly’s jumpouts have been as impressive as any. She gets her chance to run into the money today.

Currently, End Of War is a $5 chance in the market.

Race 4 – Summasweet

Jockey – Tahlia Hope

2000m – Barrier 7

Young staying prospect Summasweet is third-up today and stays at the 2000-metre trip. The three-year-old filly hit the line ok at this track/distance last start and is building fitness with every run in her debut preparation. Trainer Dwyer has indicated that he wants to get her out to 2400-metres and beyond but finding that race can be as difficult as winning it. Tahlia Hope will look to settle closer today and again run through the line, but will find this afternoon’s event too short with a few of her competitors having a sharper turn of foot. The market has identifies Charmed Destiny and Amphactor as the main hopes, but can concede a chance to Fam Gordon also.

Currently, Summasweet is a $23 chance in the market.

Race 5 – Brungle Raider

Jockey – Neil Farley

2000m – Barrier 3

In-form galloper Brungle Raider is shooting for a hattrick of wins as he steps out to 2000-metres for the first time this prep. The gelded son of Rebel Raider spanked a moderate field at Swan Hill to break his maiden at a mile before storming home from the back at Warrnambool over 1700-metres to claim back-to-back wins. The rise in distance today looks a natural progression ans the plan will again be to sit off the leading runners and be strong to the line late. Neil Farley will have cover throughout and will need a little luck at the right time to navigate outside runners and chase down the leading division. This is another step up in grade for Dwyer’s five-year-old and he runs into Andrew Bobbin’s first-up winner Catskill Mountain who is also coming off a last start win. These two have the race between them and it sets up as a great contest to kick off the Werribee quaddie.

Currently, Brungle Raider is a $4.50 chance in the market.
