Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday preview

The Henry Dwyer camp will float one runner to Mildura today as Copper Fox steps out second-up from a spell.

Race 6 – Copper Fox

Jockey – Mitch Aitken

Barrier – 6

Eight-year-old gelding, Copper Fox, will look to improve on his fresh effort at Geelong a fortnight ago when he takes on benchmark-70 grade at Mildura this afternoon. The son of Foxwedge settled rearward in that event and never got into the race but gained important fitness as he works into his preparation. Today he comes back in distance to 1200-metres – a trip he’s yet to be successful at – but will be improved from the first-up assignment and can be competitive in what looks a slightly weaker race. Mitch Aitken takes the ride from gate 6 and getting back onto a dry surface should work in his favour. Imperial Hilton for the Payne stable clearly looks the one to beat, while Paul Preusker’s Lowanna Magic will be working home late.

From the trainer:

He ran ok at Geelong first-up when he needed the run. He’ll be better for it.

I can see him running a good race today, albeit still probably needing one more.

Currently, Copper Fox is a $21 in the market.
