Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has two runners today in FIRST DIVISION and SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH running at Bendigo.

Bendigo – Good (4)

Bendigo is rated a Good 4 and with fine weather forecast across the weekend and a warm day today expect it to be quickly upgraded to a Good 3 early in the meeting. The rail is out 9m but it has been racing very well of late and generally this rail position gives most horses their chance.

Race 2 (1.25pm) Drake International Maiden Plate

No.10 FIRST DIVISION – Declan Bates (Barrier 1)

FIRST DIVISION heads to Bendigo today where she will run in a 1000m Maiden. She has drawn gate one and Damien Thornton will ride.

This filly is in really good order and is coming off a nice jumpout at Ballarat before then putting in an ok jumpout at Camperdown which shows she still has maturity to come. We will look to ride her quietly today from the barrier so we might need some luck in running and she is still learning the caper. The race doesn’t look overly strong, but there are a few unknowns today so while we have a good opinion of her, she is short enough here.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $3.30 (as at 8am)

Race 3 (2pm) Adroit Insurance & Risk Maiden Plate

No.8 SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH – Damien Thornton (Barrier 5)

SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH also heads to Bendigo on Sunday where she will tackle a 1300m Maiden. She has drawn gate five and Damien Thornton will ride.

SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH has had a series of jump-outs leading into this debut and impressed with how she has moved. She worked home strongly under a bit of riding to win her recent Camperdown jump-out and she showed some acceleration – it seemed to even take the jockey by surprise! Getting straight to the 1300m looks ideal and while she will probably balance up midfield, or maybe beyond, she will be strong late.

She’s a good each-way chance today.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $7.50 (as at 8am)
