Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has three runners today in TOFFEE STREET running at Geelong and TWELVE STARS and PRESS START running at Casterton.

Geelong – Soft (7)

The track looks in sensational order and should hold together well, but given it’s rain-affected you’d think the inside will chop out as the meeting goes on.

Race 3 (2.45pm) DMB Contracting 3YO Fillies Maiden Plate

No.13 TOFFEE STREET – Ben Allen (Barrier 7)

TOFFEE STREET heads to Geelong today where she will resume in an 1112m Maiden. She has drawn gate seven and Ben Allen will ride.

TOFFEE STREET is one of the key winning chances here. She has jumped-out most impressively on three occasions here at Geelong and looks to be in excellent order ahead of her return to the track. She was very good when we last saw her at Bendigo and that sort of run will have her figure in the finish, let alone the fact her works suggests she has improved. She can push forward and put herself on speed and should be very competitive here.

She’s a beautiful style of filly who we have a good opinion of and while this is a strong maiden and the wet track is a slight query, she should acquit herself well.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $4.20 (as at 8am)

Casterton – Soft (5)

The track as has come up a Soft 5 having missed most of the rain that Melbourne has copped so expect it to race in that range. There is no disadvantage to be near the speed at Casterton.

Race 1 (1.10pm) AG Warehouse Heywood Maiden Plate

No.10 TWELVE STARS – Lucinda Boyd (Barrier 4)

TWELVE STARS heads to Casterton today where she will tackle an 1100m Maiden. She has drawn gate four and Lucinda Boyd will ride.

TWELVE STARS has had a short spell ahead of this return to the track. Her run on a heavy track at Ballarat two back when home the 9th best last 600m split of the meeting in a very handy maiden is strong enough form to be competitive here. Her recent jump-out at Geelong was just fair, but she is drawn well and has been given another four weeks to improve off that.

She would have liked a wetter track here and while she has been a bit frustrating to date, this isn’t an overly strong race so at each way odds she will be thereabouts.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $23 (as at 8am)

Race 6 (4.05pm) Heywood Stockfeeds Maiden Plate

No.13 PRESS START – Will Gordon (Barrier 3)

PRESS START also heads to Casterton today to contest an 1800m Maiden. She has drawn gate three and Will Gordon rides.

PRESS START should be at peak fitness now and she gets every hope from what is a perfect barrier – gate three. She was quickly up from 1200m to 1600m at Swan Hill last time out and she made a reasonably sustained run out wide on the track before working to the line quite well down the middle of the track. The way she raced there, the step to 1800m looks a plus and we will be using the gate to get her in the early firing line up to this sort of trip.

She will plug away and will also be some chance to fill the placings here. One for the multiples.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $10 (as at 8am)
