Henry Dwyer Racing – Sunday Preview

The Henry Dwyer Racing stable has two runners today in BUDD FOX and RIDING HIGH running at Sandown.

Sandown – Good (4)

Race 1 (12.10pm) Ladbroke It Hurdle

No.7 BUDD FOX – Clayton Douglas (Barrier 3)

BUDD FOX heads to Sandown today where he will run in the 3400 metre Hurdle. He has drawn gate three and Clayton Douglas will ride.

BUDD FOX gets a good track today which will suit, he hasn’t missed a beat since his last run and looks in terrific order ahead of his jump’s assignment today. He couldn’t be any fitter for this, he will run every bit of the distance, but it’s just his second time over the jumps so he is still learning the caper. If this was a flat race then the confidence would be high, he wasn’t perfect first-up over the hurdles but he has enjoyed a jump’s trial since with Steve Pateman and his jumping was clean, which was on top of his flat run last start. Race day pressure against better opposition is very different, MAWAANY MACHINE and ECKHART are two of the most progressive hurdlers around at the moment, with plenty other good jumpers in what is a strong field.

He will probably drift on his current price due to the factors mentioned, but this looks a good race for him and if he jumps cleanly then he will be competitive today.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $4.40 (as at 8am)

Race 3 (1.30pm) Ladbrokes Australian Steeplechase

No.5 RIDING HIGH – Clayton Douglas (Barrier 6)

RIDING HIGH also heads to Sandown today where he will run in the 3900 metre Australian Steeplechase. He has drawn gate six and Clayton Douglas will ride.

The dry track will also suit RIDING HIGH today on a Sandown surface that is perfect for jump’s racing. BIT OF A LAD looks the main danger but this does look like an after thought for him given his big Warrnambool Carnival. Our current price probably more reflects the opposition we meet today as he is a bit shorter than his current form suggests, the good track brings him right into contention against some of these that would prefer a wetter track.

His class over the jumps will take him a long way in this race, he will be very competitive with Clayton Douglas on board and is an each way play.

TAB WIN Fixed Odds – $4.60 (as at 8am)
