Seymour
Race 3 – Prove It All Night
Jockey – Declan Bates
1200m – Barrier 12
Brazen Beau gelding Prove It All Night is second-up and fitter when he treks to Seymour this afternoon. The four-year-old galloper made an inauspicious debut on heavy ground at Hamilton four weeks ago, missing the start and never a chance when beaten a long margin at 1100-metres. Blinkers go on for today’s race, jockey Declan Bates can settle where comfortable from the chute start, with plenty of time to get across from the widest of gates.
The speed battle doesn’t look hectic early on, but expect Chocolate Isle and Stage Master to stride forward and find prominent positions, while Tikken and Glowing Rapids can hold their spots on the rail heading into the home bend. Glowing Rapids was solid here over 1000-metres first-up a month ago, bungling the start somewhat and recovering to be beaten a length when favourite. He finished alongside Pietro Road, who has since won well at Tatura. If he can step cleanly today, expect him to prove hard to beat. Tikken was okay on debut at Hamilton in the aforementioned race and could improve on top of the ground today. Drawn for a soft trail, each way claims. So too Upinthecity and Franking Credits, who begin their racing careers today. Both have jumped out soundly. Stage Master next best, right back in trip for this.
Prove It All Night had jumped out well prior to his debut and improvement is expected today. Headgear will switch him on for this, and he should get every chance wherever he lands in the run. Each way chance on a better surface.
Currently, Prove It All Night is a $21 chance in the market.
